Snoring

Snoring is produced by the vibration of respiratory structures. The resulting sound is due to the obstructed air movement during breathing while sleeping. In some cases the sound can be loud and quite unpleasant. The vibrating structures are usually the uvula and soft palate.

The not regular airflow is caused by a blockage and usually due to one or more of the following:

• Caused by the tissues at the top of airways touching each other (uvula and soft palate) causing vibration
• Mispositioned jaw
• Throat weakness
• Fat gathering in and around the throat
• Obstruction in the nasal passageway
